Screening of Suffragette to celebrate International Women’s Day

Today is International Women’s Day 2022! We are a business predominately led by women, so this day is important to us. We believe in celebrating the achievements of women and raising up the women in our lives. There are no limits to what women can achieve and we believe in gender equality and the equality of all people! This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #breakthebias, with a mission to create a world free from stereotypes and discrimination. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

We thought we’d celebrate today by reminding ourselves of an incredible event we supported four years ago, for International Women’s Day 2018! We helped The Pankhurst Trust raise valuable funds by supporting a special screening of Suffragette at the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester. This event was a collaboration between The Pankhurst Trust, The Whitworth, Pathé and The Village Screen. It was also mentioned in Vogue magazine as one of the top events in the country for International Women’s Day, which as you can imagine was an incredible career highlight for us. You can see the full article here - https://www.vogue.co.uk/gallery/international-womens-day-events.

The 2018 event commemorated 100 years since the first women were given the vote - a political milestone that was propelled by the campaigning of Emmeline Pankhurst and the Suffragette movement, which was formed at Emmeline’s home, now the location of the Pankhurst Centre. All funds from the event went to The Pankhurst Trust, to support the work of the Pankhurst Centre.

The Pankhurst Centre is a world-leading museum that tells the story of the women who fought for the vote (the Suffragette movement), as well as the ongoing fight for women across the globe for equality. It’s a place that we’d recommend visiting and supporting, especially on a day like today where we remind ourselves of the work we still need to do to #breakthebias. Happy International Women’s Day everybody!
